Chamber expects to get more help from new govt
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce is hopeful that it will get more help from the government, citing that newly installed leaders have expressed willingness to help improve the business climate in the CNMI.
“A number of lawmakers have opened their doors to discussions. The new administration has always been vocal about its pro-business policy. We’re really looking forward to working closely with them,” said Chamber president Charles V. Cepeda.
He disclosed that he has in fact been invited to be part of a “think tank” formed by the new administration.
“I look forward to the first meeting of Governor [Benignor R.] Fitial’s think tank committee. …I believe this will be the working group to come up with ideas to focus on issues being brought up by the different organizations,” said Cepeda.
Earlier, then Chamber president and now vice president Alex Sablan said he looks forward to seeing “a positive change” in the CNMI economy under the Fitial-Villagomez administration.
He said his group has had a good working relationship with both government leaders when they were still in the House of Representatives. (Liberty Dones)
