Mix-A-Lot joined the Hitters in the first place waiting room of the Women’s Island-Wide Slow-Pitch Softball League as they squashed the Sai-Steve Rookies, 15-5, under the lights of Tan Ge Softball Field at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Mix-A-Lot made a statement early on Thursday night by opening up the game with seven runs in the first inning, and scored eight late to earn its seventh win of the season. At 7-2, Mix-A-Lot is tied with the Hitters in second place behind Bomsoro (7-1) to create an air of excitement in the Office of Women’s Affairs’ co-sponsored league.

Centerfielder Liz Lebria led the offensive charge for the Mix with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate that yielded a pair of runs batted in, a single, a double, and an inside-the-park homerun.

First baseman Jenny Palacios also saw perfection at 3-for-3 with two singles, a triple, and a run batted in, while left fielder Marisa Leon Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a pair of base knocks and three ribbies.

Outfielder Charlene Cabrera also drove in a run and went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, while pitcher Julie Omar did the same. The difference is that Omar allowed five runs off of eight hits and fanned four in a five-inning complete game that earned another win.

Proa 20, Seabees ‘4’ 18

The last place Proa pulled off an upset over the second place Seabees ‘4’ in thrilling come-from-behind fashion late in the game to win their third game of the season on Wednesday night at Tan Ge Softball Field.

E.J. Sablan was a force in the flip as the left fielder went 5-for-5 at the plate with three singles, two doubles, and five runs batted in, while right fielder Tony Pangelinan went 4-for-5 with three singles and a three-run inside-the-park homerun.

Catcher Tony Celis was also perfect at the plate as the hard hitting infielder went 4-for-4 with three singles, a double, and a sac fly RBI to center.

The Seabees took a 5-4 lead in the first inning and jumped out to a 15-12 lead in the bottom of the third with a 10-run explosion. While they counted on bursts of offense to stay in the game, the Proa capitalized on consistency by scoring four runs in each of the first five innings to notch the win.

Even after the Seabees took an 18-16 lead in the bottom of the fourth, the Proa tacked on anther quatro in the fifth and held on for the upset.

D-9ers down Lancheros, 9-5

The Santa Rosa II D-9ers staved off an upset with a five-run rally in the final inning to remain atop the standings of the fast-pitch league by holding off the Kagman Lancheros, 9-5, at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Dante Sablan continued to make a case for an all-star bid with a solid game in the field and a stellar show at the plate as the utility infielder went 3-for-4 with three singles and a run batted in.

After leading for most of the contest, the D-9ers lost their lead when the Lancheros tied the game 4-4 in the bottom of the six inning. The homesteader fans went wild in the bleachers and continued to celebrate when their team blanked the D-9ers in the seventh to force extra innings.

Their joy was short lived; however, as the D-9ers tugged on their championship roots and exploded for five runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure their seventh win of the season.
