The Immanuel Methodist Church Filipino Congregation is celebrating its 10th year anniversary today at the IMC in Koblerville.

To celebrate a decade of presence in the CNMI, current pastor Jimmy Sembrano said the church would conduct a worship service today from 3pm to 5pm. They will be joined by Philippine consul general Wilfredo Maximo and preacher Raffy Armia.

Sembrano said some churches such as the Korean Methodist Church, Saipan Bible Fellowship II, Jesus is Lord, Cornerstone Christian Church, God’s Victorious Army and the Immanuel Methodist Church would be attending the festivities. Senior pastor Rev. Myung Taek Lee will also attend the celebration.

The Immanuel Methodist Church Filipino Congregation is a spin-off from the head church of IMC in 1996, at that time called the First Filipino United Methodist Church under the leadership of pastor Glicerio M. Ferrer. The church became a separate entity from the IMC.

When Ferrer left Saipan the congregation didn’t have a pastor from 2000 to 2005, said Sembrano. The head church again absorbed the Filipino congregation but when Sembrano came to the island, the congregation again became independent.
