Tagaman calls for volunteers
With only a couple of days remaining before world class triathletes line up on the beach behind the Pacific Islands Club for the start of the 17th Tagaman Triathlon, organizers are looking to shore up the lengthy 60-kilometer bike course with volunteers to help protect and direct the cyclists.
According to Taga Inc. president Wolf Mojica, the longest-running triathlon in the Marianas needs a number of people on the roads to ensure the safety of the endurance aficionados on Saturday, April 8.
Mojica sited the need for volunteers from Koblerville to Banzai Cliff and at every small street between the PIC and the Garapan Fire Station at the corner of Beach Road and Micro Beach Road—known in race circles as Finishers Street.
Official race hats will be passed out to all who step forward to lend a hand, and there will be a meeting for all volunteers at the PIC employee parking lot at 5:30pm this Friday, April 7, where Mojica and company will be giving out assignments for the following day.
In addition to helping out with the full-scale event, organizers are also looking for volunteers to lend a hand with the Tagakids race on Sunday, April 9.
According to race director Sue Knecht, volunteers are needed to help with timing, writing, water safety, and more than a dozen to line the bike and run courses.
