Online master’s courses at NMC

Faculty from the University of Guam and Sam Houston State University will be on Saipan on Monday, May 1, from 3pm-5pm, to discuss two master’s level programs in education.

On Tuesday, May 2 from 3pm-5pm, a similar informational meeting will be held at Tinian High School.

All interested private and public school administrators and teachers are welcome to attend.

Online Master of Education in Reading Program

Dr. Catherine Stoicovy, Associate Professor of Language and Literature, and Dr. Joyce McCauley, UoG Professor Emeritus and Associate Professor of Language, Literacy and Special Populations at Sam Houston State University will discuss the online Master of Education in Reading program.

Sam Houston State University and the UoG have entered into a consortium agreement to offer students an online Master’s of Education program in Reading. The first five courses will be taken through the UoG, which is seeking WASC approval of the courses and the program.

Certificate in Administration and Supervision

Dr. James Maryott, UOG Associate Professor of Educational Administration and Supervision, and Dr. Lawrence Kodiyanplakkal, UoG Associate Professor of Secondary Education, will present information regarding the Administration and Supervision certificate program.

The UoG is seeking WASC approval to offer the entire Master’s of Education in Administration and Supervision on Saipan. In the meantime, the university will offer a set of six graduate level courses that will fulfill the Saipan Public School System’s administrator certification requirements. Implementation date for the first two certification courses is summer of 2006.

Program details, explanation of the coursework, related costs and financial aid possibilities, along with timelines for implementation will be shared during the information sessions. A question and answer session will be incorporated into the presentations.
