Rain plagues MRA points race
Baseball and soccer weren’t the only sporting events that suffered Mother Nature’s wrath over the weekend as the Marianas Racing Association cancelled its return to the Cowtown Raceway Park on Sunday.
According to Steve “Weevo” Sablan, the octane-powered machines remained silent over the weekend as the northernmost track in the Marianas was unusable due to the muddy conditions.
Sablan previously said that weather has been the major factor in the postponement of all of races since July and while the details are still being ironed out, the MRA is eying the last Sunday of the month, Oct. 29, to hold its October race.
MRA board member Eric Cruz and the folks from the Department of Pubic Works have spent countless hours preparing the track for the motor heads with equipment from Ericco but unless they build a roof over the track the riders will be at the mercy of the Marianas.
When they finally do return to the track, the riders will have the benefit of using the professionally made starting gate courtesy of Triple J Enterprises, and Sablan said that the majority of the MRA’s upcoming races will be Triple J events with a variety of co-sponsors throughout the year.
