CNMI Baseball Samoa fundraiser this weekend
The team that brought the hometown fans to their feet when John Reyes ran around Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field with the CNMI flag after defeating Guam in the 6th Micronesian Games is looking to the public for help getting to Samoa for the Pacific Games.
The CNMI baseball team has already started its campaign with a luncheon and according to skipper Tony Rogolifoi, the squad will be hosting a fund raising softball tournament this weekend.
The upcoming Budweiser Saipan Major League fundraising softball tournament is all set to kick off on Friday, Oct. 27, and continue through Sunday, Oct. 29, but before any of the action gets underway the teams will have to register and pay.
The cost to participate in the tournament is $200, and teams can make checks payable to SML but they have to do so before Friday. The cost to get the CNMI’s athletes to Samoa for the Games is staggering and proceeds from the tournament will help to get them there.
While the no later than date for the registration fees is this Friday, the coaches must submit rosters and fees to tomorrow’s team meeting in the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium at 5:30pm.
