Canoe Life magazine to feature Marianas
Sokousha Publishing spent Oct. 21-22 on Saipan shooting for its monthly magazine Canoe Life.
The editor/photographer, Koichi Kato, spent his days shooting at various beaches and tourist sites around Saipan. The team will be back from Nov. 6 to 10 to do another photo shoot here in the CNMI.
According to Kato, this is his first time to visit the CNMI. “This trip has been a good experience. I have seen so many potential spots on the island for sea kayaking as well as canoeing. It would be great to see more of the sport in the CNMI to attract possible visitors and enthusiast of this kind of outdoor experience.
“The 8th Annual Micronesian Outrigger Cup event was spectacular and it was interesting to see the camaraderie between other countries despite the competition. We hope our next trip will be even a greater experience to promote the CNMI as a potential outdoor destination in our magazine,” said Kato.
The targeted readership for Canoe Life is adult men and women in their 20’s to 50’s with active interest in canoe, kayaking, water field sports, leisure and travel who want to visit the CNMI to experience our clear blue waters. The outcome is sure to promote the CNMI in one of Japan’s popular canoe magazines.
“I would like to offer a special thank you to MVA for their support and hospitality, generosity and assistance while we worked here and to all the participants of the 8th Micronesian Outrigger Cup,” said Kato.
“We are thrilled to have this exposure in Japan,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “We thank everyone involved in helping us promote our islands in Japan.”
Sponsors of this event were Saipan World Resort, JM & Associates (Sea Star), Rakuen Restaurant, Coffee Care, Micronesian Cup Organizing Committee and the Saipan Outrigger Canoe Club.
The publication date of the magazine that will feature the CNMI will be Jan. 10, 2007. Some 50,000 copies of the magazine will be published. The magazine will have an eight-page feature which will be dedicated to the CNMI. (PR)
