Eight teams show interest in Masters cage league
Eight teams have already expressed interest to compete in the upcoming Masters Basketball League.
This, according to league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi who said that he had received calls from several team representatives who indicated their players’ willingness to compete for supremacy.
The league, which is sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands, is tentatively scheduled to kick off on the second week of November.
Teams may enter in one of the two age divisions, as the league will have competition in the 35-and-over and 45-and-over categories.
Out of the eight teams, four have shown interest for the 35-and-over competition, while the other four will compete in the 45-and-over contest.
Rogolifoi said he will coordinate with fellow league officials and will set up a meeting in the near future to discuss important issues relating to the league, such as rules, regulations, the tentative start date, and the entrance fee. BANMI has yet to decide on how much the entrance fee for each team will be.
Games will be held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, pending availability of the venue.
Rogolifoi explained that all players interested in taking part in the league must provide a copy of documents or identification cards that will be used for age verification.
“IDs such as driver’s license or passport will be accepted,” Rogolifoi said.
