SHRM hosts diversity conference

The CNMI Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management will have their annual Diversity conference tomorrow, Nov. 9, 2006. The Annual Diversity Conference will look at the value of a diverse workforce and what managers can do to maximize the positive affect of these differences in our workers. Being from a multinational environment, this conference will cover topics of many diverse issues within the work workplace as well as the community.

Thomas Thornburgh and Gregory Borja, both project specialists with the Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems Inc., will share some suggestions on how to lead a diverse workforce. Patricia Coleman, the acting EFNEP & FSNEP coordinator for NMC-CREES, will share the importance of keeping employees healthy in order to have a more effective workforce. Thomas Camacho, special assistant for Disability Policy & Programs, will discuss ADA and offering reasonable accommodations in the workplace. Dr. Kendall Gladding, clinical psychologist from the Community Guidance Center, will give information on how to address mental illness in the workplace.

This conference will be held at the SandCastle of the Hyatt Regency Saipan from 8am to 4pm on Nov. 9. The cost for all sessions, including lunch, is $30 for SHRM members and $35 for non-SHRM members.
