Pacific Telecom Inc. has no intention to publish the names of customers who are behind in their bill payments, the company clarified yesterday.

PTI marketing manager Kathryn Barry stressed that PTI will only print reminders of the disconnection date and not individual names of delinquent customers, as earlier reported.

“It is unfortunate that there was a misunderstanding about PTI disconnection notices. It was never PTI’s intention to print individual names and the billing insert does not say this. The insert states that disconnection notices will no longer be sent and that the disconnection date is going to be published for three days prior to the disconnection date each month,” Barry said.

“PTI has never, and will never, publish customer names,” she added.

The latest billings sent to PTI customers came with a notice saying that the telecom firm will now stop sending disconnection notices by U.S. mail on the 14th of the month. Instead, PTI will issue notification through the newspapers for three days prior to the disconnection.

PTI cited as reason the lack of home postal delivery in the Commonwealth. Many customers do not pick up notices before the disconnection date, according to PTI. (Agnes E. Donato)
