Weeks after scores of international paddlers flocked to the Saipan shores for the Micronesian Cup, organizers from the local outrigger clubs are getting together to promote their sport with a beachside barbecue.

According to Rob Jordan, paddlers from the Saipan Outrigger Canoe Club, Fatu’ul, Napu, Stroke for Broke, and newly formed Oleai Canoe Club are calling on all past, present, and future paddlers to join them tomorrow morning.

Party headquarters will take place nearby the home of their canoes under the Kilili Beach pavilion on Sunday, Nov 12, at 10:30am. If you were ever interested in pulling water with one of the local clubs, this is the perfect opportunity meet the clubs.

“Hopefully a lot of people will turn out and make this a fun day at the beach, as well as a progressive day for the sport of outrigger canoe in the CNMI,” said Jordan.

Last month’s Micronesian Cup saw some of the most exciting competition since last summer’s Micronesian Games as teams from Guam, Palau, and Hong Kong joined the CNMI’s top teams in the lagoon.

The course behind the Saipan World Resort provided entertainment for the racers and spectators alike, and the paddlers will most likely power glide tomorrow morning as well.
