Man allegedly hits nephew on the head with lumber
A man allegedly slapped his drunken nephew and hit him on the head with a piece of lumber at a house in China Town Saturday.
The victim, Elmer Orak, suffered an eight-centimeter laceration to the head that required eight stitches to close. He was treated at the Commonwealth Health Center.
Robert Ngiramengior, 42, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.
Police said Ngiramengior admitted assaulting Orak, allegedly in order to teach him a lesson.
Prior to the beating, defendant and Orak had an argument over a car. Ngiramengior confronted the drunken victim, but the latter refused to listen to him. The defendant then allegedly slapped Orak and hit him with a 2X2 piece of lumber on the head.
Police recovered the lumber used in the attack.
In other court news, Ivan T. Dela Cruz, 33, was arrested on Friday for allegedly beating up his wife and hitting her repeatedly with a stick at their house in Achugao on Nov. 5.
Dela Cruz allegedly slapped the victim and squeezed her face, pulled her by the hair and spanked her with either a tangan-tangan or guava stick.
Dela Cruz also padlocked the main door while the victim was inside as he took a shower. After his shower, the defendant allegedly beat up the victim again.
When Dela Cruz left the house, the victim ran to her brother’s residence where he called emergency 911.
The defendant accused his wife of having an affair with a certain Fred and beat her up to get her to admit their relationship.
In 2003 and 1999, the victim also sought police’s help against the same defendant for beating her up.
De la Cruz had two prior history of attempting to commit suicide, police said.
Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja imposed a $150 cash and $1,350 unsecured bond for the defendant’s temporary liberty.
