The two-month CNMI Recycles Day school recycling contest officially ends today, Wednesday, Nov 15. Families, businesses, or organizations that have recyclables to donate to a school are reminded that today is the last day to turn in one’s receipts.

All participating schools are reminded to submit their recycling receipts to DEQ no later than 4:30pm, on Thursday, Nov 16.

“We’ll announce the contest winners at the CNMI Recycles Day celebration on Saturday, Nov 18, at the Lower Base Transfer Station, beginning at 9am. In addition to awarding our school contest winners fabulous prizes (to include cash, waterpark passes, and seedlings for campus beautification), there will be great entertainment, exhibits, and tours of the Transfer Station. The festivities will be free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided,” said Tina Sablan, Waste Reduction & Recycling Coordinator of the Division of Environmental Quality.

For more information about CNMI Recycles Day, or to find out how you can help (and yes, we do still need help), contact Sablan at 664-8500 or 484-3935. (PR)
