Finance Secretary Eloy Inos is off to California to meet with Gov. Benigno R. Fitial.

Inos, earlier reported to have backed out from this week’s investment conference in Hawaii, decided to make a stop in Honolulu on his way to meet with Fitial in Los Angeles, according to press secretary Charles P. Reyes Jr.

“Since his trip routes through Hawaii, he (Inos) has decided to join us for the conference and in fact has productively participated in several meetings dealing with important financial matters,” Reyes said in an email.

He did not elaborate on either Inos’ role at the conference or the purpose of his meeting with Fitial. He said details will be available in the administration’s next press conference. Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez is expected back in the Commonwealth on Friday, Nov. 17, 2006.

Since going on medical leave last month, Fitial has conducted meetings with his Cabinet via Internet conference. Fitial, who had been diagnosed with spinal stenosis, had back surgery at the UCLA Medical Center last month and is now recovering.
