Swimmers bring Holiday cheer
The Saipan Swim Club is taking a break from the horizontal laps in the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool for a jaunt down Beach Road next week when some of the CNMI’s top athletes host the 3rd Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run.
The swimmers are always trying to raise funds to help them represent the Marianas in meets across the regions and on Wednesday, Dec. 6, walkers, runners, and those with two legs or four are all welcome to join the 5-kilometer fun run starting from the Garapan Fishing Base across the street from the Kristo Rai church.
The journey south to the finish line will take all the participants approximately three miles down the road at AJ’s Restaurant in Susupe where free beverages at AJ’s and the opportunity to win one of the many raffle prizes await them following the run.
After attracting nearly four hundred participants during the past two years, organizers are hoping to top last year’s total of 167 runners, and have lowered the registration fee to $10 to encourage more people to come out and enjoy the trek along the Saipan Beach Pathway.
The fee includes lanyards, and flashlights, and entrants don’t have to worry about getting back to the Fishing Base for their vehicles, as the organizers will shuttle everyone back to Garapan.
Registration starts at 4:30pm, with the run taking place a half-hour later, and participants are also invited to bring their pets to join them on their southbound trek to the popular Susupe site.
