Man allegedly tries to hit taxi driver with stun gun
A man was arrested for allegedly harassing a taxi driver and trying to hit him with a stun gun outside a bar in Garapan Friday night.
Jose Crisostimo was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace, according to the Department of Public Safety yesterday.
DPS acting spokesman Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr. said preliminary investigation showed that taxi driver Ataur Rahman was waiting for his customers at Porky’s Bar when Crisostimo parked his white sedan next to Rahman’s vehicle.
Crisostimo allegedly harassed Rahman for parking in the area. He then allegedly took a stun gun and attempted to hit the taxi driver with it.
Rahman, however, managed to jump in the backseat of his taxi where he called for police on his cell phone.
During the commotion, Rahman’s customers came out from the bar. Crisostimo fled with his vehicle.
Responding police officers later pulled over the suspect’s vehicle as it was heading south.
Crisostimo was brought to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained, Blas said.
In other news, police arrested an intoxicated man who allegedly hit his wife on the forearm with a manicure purse and hacked things up with a machete at their house in San Jose Saturday night.
Garry Macahito, 46, was arrested for disturbing the peace and assault and battery.
During a hearing yesterday, Superior Court presiding judge Robert Naraja imposed a $5,000 cash bail for Macahito’s temporary liberty.
The preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 5.
According to court papers, the intoxicated Macahito got jealous when his wife told him that she would manicure the toenail of his father because it was hurting him.
Macahito hit his wife with the manicure purse on the right forearm. Later that day, the defendant took a machete, started hacking things in the house and threatened he would kill someone, even the police officer who would arrest him.
Responding police officer Andrew Santos threatened to spray Macahito with a pepper mace. He then calmed down.
The wife said Macahito chased her outside the house four times before. (Ferdie de la Torre)
