Scrooge: A Christmas musical
The curtain goes up once again Dec. 8, 9, and 10 as Friends of the Arts presents “Scrooge!”
This heartwarming musical comedy will be performed at two sites: at the Pacific Islands Club/Charley’s on Dec. 8 at 7:30pm and again on Dec. 10 for a 3pm matinee, and at the Kagman Community Center on Dec. 9.
“Scrooge”, written by James Leisy, is based on the popular Charles Dickens’ novel, “A Christmas Carol.” The bitter and miserly Scrooge keeps his employees busy in search of profits, rejecting the goodwill and spirit of Christmas that are extended to him. The reason for his distemper is revealed through the visits of four ghostly spirits, who help him see life as it was, is, and should be. The patience and good cheer of his long-suffering head accountant Cratchit and his family, Scrooge’s nephew Fred and his fiancee, and assorted neighbors eventually are rewarded when Scrooge has a change of heart.
Tickets to the PIC performances, Dec. 8 and 10, are just $10 for adults and $5 for students ages 11 and older. Youth ages 10 and under are free.
A Christmas dessert/tea/coffee buffet will be available for purchase for $5. A cash bar also will be available.
The Kagman Community Center performance, Dec. 9, is by donation of non-perishable (canned or dry goods) food items or cash in any amount, with all proceeds to be given to Guma Esperanza, the shelter for victims of domestic violence. No tickets are needed—just come prepared to give a little and receive a heartwarming entertainment experience!
Many thanks to the Pacific Islands Club and the Governor’s Office of the Special Assistant for Administration for their support.
