Christmas in the Marianas on Dec. 15 and 16

Christmas in the Marianas will take place on Dec. 15 and 16 at the Chamolinian Cultural Village.

This family event is a fun and great way to spend the holiday season. The Christmas caroling contest will kick of the celebration on Dec. 15 at the Chamolinian Cultural Village starting at 6pm.

Prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 winners by each of the sponsors of this year’s event. The rest of the kids will receive a bag of goodies from Santa.

On Dec. 16, the Children’s Parade and Float Display will begin at 6pm and will go from American Memorial Park to the at the Chamolinian Cultural Village.

The floats will be judged as they go through Garapan. After the float parade, the children will have an opportunity to strut on the catwalk. Schools will show off their best contestants. They will compete in the categories of audience participation, originality, recycled wear and humor. The outfit must reflect Christmas. Also taking place on this day is the 5- or 10-kilometer walk along the Saipan Beach Pathway.

This event is organized by the Saipan Walking Association, Inc. as part of this year’s Christmas celebration. Registration will be from 3pm to 4pm. A fireworks extravaganza will end the evening.
