Just days after announcing the promotion of a handful of tankers, the Saipan Swim Club welcomed Developmental Program graduate Kaisei Toda to the full-fledged ranks of the SSC Blue Team.

SSC head coach Michael Stewart has spent years walking the deck cracking the whip and critiquing strokes, and the man shaping the future of the CNMI’s swimming program said that he likes what he’s seen thus far from the rookie.

“I am proud to announce another swimmer from the SSC Developmental Team is moving up to the SSC Blue Team. Kaisei Toda has shown the work ethic and the skills to move his swimming career to the next level,” he said.

According to Stewart, eight-year-old Toda only recently joined the developmental team when he came to the pool last spring. In the months since the youngster has showed great improvement but he stayed away from the water through his summer break and returned in time for the all schools meet.

The coach said that Toda picked up where he left off in the spring and represented his school well in the big meet. Saipan Community School’s rising star won the 9&Under 50m breaststroke and placed second in the 50m freestyle.

Stewart said that it was just a matter of tie before the kid earned his ticket to the next level thanks to his natural abilities and tireless work ethic.

“After just three more weeks on the Developmental Team, Kaisei gained enough strength to move to the Blue Team. Kaisei’s strengths are in the breaststroke events and in his willingness to work to improve. It is so exciting to see the developmental kids improve as fast as they are right now. This bodes well for the future of our swim program,” he said.
