Twenty teams turned out to Dan Dan Softball Field over the weekend to participate in the Saipan Little League Baseball Association’s fundraising slow-pitch softball tournament but only half of them advanced to the next round of action.

The competition continues this Saturday when CUC battles Who’s Next at 9am to kick off the morning slate followed by the match between the Bears and OPA at 10am. Nang will play the winner of the first game at 11am, while Taotao Bud plays Man Amigos at noon, while the Bombers play the winners of the Bears-OPA match-up and No Panic faces the winner of Nang’s game. Whatta Guy can sleep through the morning games as its contest is at 4pm.

While the action is important to the players, the players are important to the SLLBA as the tournament is a fundraiser for future stars of the Saipan’s baseball program.

The SLLBA was originally going to host a softball tournament for kids this weekend but the high turnout of adult teams forced organizers to push back the youth session for a week. For more information regarding either of the tournaments, contact SLLBA president Joe Salas by calling 285-1643.
