‘The Crank,’ SIP take top honors
Frank “The Crank” Camacho was dominant, while Samahang Ilokano at Pangasinense remained the team to beat.
The 17-year-old Camacho returned to Saipan on Monday after claiming the light-heavyweight title with a TKO victory over Fritz Rodriguez of Gracie Barra Philippines in the Universal Reality Combat Championships.
Despite fighting in front of Rodriguez’s crowd, Camacho was able to stun all in attendance as the Trench Tech Purebred Saipan fighter defeated his opponent just 42 seconds in the fight to become champion and bring home the championship belt.
For their part, the SIP cagers also celebrated after successfully defending their title and winning the 2006 MDX Good Sportsmanship Basketball League Coca-Cola Cup at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
SIP was up against a tall and tough MOVER team, and with scoring machine Fred Pelisamen lighting up the scoreboard for 37 points, the team was able to outgun their opponents en route to an 87-73 victory.

Pelisamen won the regular season and finals most valuable player trophies. He also earned scoring champion honors, and is a member of the Mythical Five team, which also includes Alegre, Jawn Joyner of RHT, Eric Dalangin of MOVER, and Taj Van Buren of Budweiser.
