Jazy Cup speeds off April 13
The Saipan leg of the inaugural Jazy Cup Tour de Marianas Cycling Road Race Series races off on April 13, Sunday, at American Memorial Park.
The Saipan race—which is sponsored in part by TakeCare, Mair, Mai, Spade & Thompson, Jazy Sportswear, Toro Bravo MD Imaging, and Tan Holdings Corp.—will also have a similar event in Guam on May 3 and 4.
Registration is now ongoing and registration forms are available at Auto Glass Pro-Romy’s Bike Shop in Beach Road.
The April 13 road race begins and ends at AMP. Two divisions are offered in the race with the Expert class going for two laps of 48.6 kilometers, while the Novice category will have one lap of 24.3K.
Showtime for the race, which also has a mountain bike course consists of one lap of 11.75K, is at 5:15am while go time is at 6:30am.
Triathlon bikes are also allowed and for safety purposes organizers are discouraging the use of tribars. Minimum 16-spoke wheeled bike can be used in the race, which would benefit the Jazy Garcia Sports Foundation.
The Guam edition will have two stages, namely, the Time Trial from Adelup to Adelup on May 3 and the Road Race on May 4 from Agana Shopping Center and back.
Registration fees are $20 each for the two road races and the time trial and $30 for all three stages. Checks should be made payable to the Jazy Garcia Sports Foundation.
The deadline to register is on April 11 for the Saipan leg and May 2 for the Guam edition.
