Trench Tech pushes back two events
Trench Tech Purebred Saipan Gym co-instructor Cuki Alvarez would like to inform mixed martial arts fans that they are pushing back two of their events scheduled this month to May.
Alvarez said they decided to push back the events to give them more time to arrange an renovate Trench Tech Gym’s new home. Trench Tech has relocated from the gym behind Moylan’s Insurance in Garapan to Afetnas Square behind the Department of Labor building in San Antonio.
The Art Of War II All Island Grappling/Submission event scheduled on April 26, Saturday, was moved to May 10, while Trench Warz VII set for June 7 will now take place on June 21.
Both events will now be held at their new air-conditioned gym in Afetnas Square, which is also known as Babauta Estates. Trench Tech’s new gym is a 15,708-sq. ft facility that can accommodate up to 2,000 fans.
Aside from giving the Trench Tech crew ample time to fix the new venue, Alvarez said MMA fans from Saipan who are working and living overseas requested to change the dates so they can return home for summer.
Applications to join both competitions will soon be available at the Trench Tech gym. Enrolment and sign up fee for all who wish to join will be announced at a later date.
The tentative fight card for Trench Warz VIII will be Jason “Rush” Tarkong against Myron “The Natural” San Nicolas in the main event while Guam’s Jess “The Spyderman” Taitano will fight against Saipan’s pride in the 125-lb division “Taby” Jay Muna in the semi main event.
Ryan “The Dentist” Urquizu is also expected to fight, while an undercard boxing match between the Philippines’ Bert Cano and a still unnamed opponent is also in the works.
Alvarez, who aims to bring top caliber fight events on the island, also promised 10 more undercard matches featuring Saipan’s and Guam’s top fighters.
