As part of their school’s drug and violence prevention efforts, Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja students, teachers, and one parent from Rota participated in the 18th Annual Youth For Youth Conference held April 18-20, 2008, in Guam.

The conference aimed to promote a drug-, alcohol-, and tobacco-free lifestyle among the youth. Conference participants shared their knowledge about the dangers of drugs and violence. A large group of participants performed an energetic dance to keep the conference alive.

The conference consisted of workshops and presentations facilitated by the young people who made up most of the conference participants, with minimal assistance from the adult trainers and mentors.

The students of Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja acknowledged the Pacific Regional Training Institute drug prevention program, Women Helping People Foundation, CNMI Public School System board member Tanya King, Sgt. Maj. Herman Atalig, Barrigada Vice Mayor June Blas, the Guam Fire Department, Tarza Management and Staff, the Blas family, Bay Breeze Restaurant-Rota, and to the Rota Community who helped during students’ fundraising drive.
