Questions that need answers

We are glad that Mr. Anthony Guerrero resigned from this administration. As president of Taotao Tano, I wish to convey to the people of the Commonwealth that Mr. Anthony Guerrero had exemplified extreme professionalism and respect for the people of the Commonwealth and his decisions during his tenure as executive director of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. had been hampered by this administration and not his doing. We strongly believe that Mr. Guerrero did the right thing by resigning, otherwise this Governor will find a way to blame him one way or another with the issues currently surfacing.

We also have reasons to believe that this had been a political move to pressure Mr. Guerrero into resigning so that the Governor can move forward with his privatization plan with our power plant and possibly getting rid of current employees who are not loyal or adhering to his expectations.

Taotao Tano is aggressively pursuing the disappearance of a $4 million check that surfaced. We need answers from the Secretary of Finance. There are too many cover-ups going on. Someone has to be held responsible and accountable. We are also looking into J&G Sablan’s negotiation to mine pozzalan on Pagan; we want to know what the deal is. Has Mr. Sablan paid his arrears for delinquent public land quarry leases as reported by OPA? Why is the negotiation taking place behind closed doors and not made public? How much are we talking about here? Who else is benefiting from the mining?

Last Friday’s State of the Commonwealth address added more fuel to our quest for impeachment of the Governor due for submission this week. The letter submitted to both the House and Senate members was simply putting everyone on notice that Taotao Tano is seriously pursuing this urgent and priority matter. The innocent people of the Commonwealth were oppressed by U.S. Congress, including foreign organizations disrespecting the entire local indigenous Northern Mariana descent people, simply because of who is in charge of our government.

Reporters need to check why the Governor declared to run again without the consent of the Lt. Governor. What is the current situation in the administration? Is there a fall out between the Better Times team?

As for Washington Rep Pete A. Tenorio, there is no way he will get the non-voting delegate seat or any other seat for that matter. We need a strong, young and energetic individual who will fight for the people of the Commonwealth and someone who knows how to handle pressure including upholding our Covenant and Constitution to its fullest, as negotiated by both U.S. Congress and the CNMI. As for rumors of a trade-off, yes it is true, Pete A. Tenorio had made that clear as stated that he is interested in the non-voting delegate seat. Four years in office and nothing to show for other than a fancy pamphlet handed out to everyone who attended the Commonwealth Address, which contained more pictures than reports on taxpayers account. Taotao Tano is concerned as to how much was spent on such a pamphlet including how much per diem will the Washington rep. and staff are going to collect for their trip to their own homeland, the CNMI and back to Washington.
