‘Immortals’ to take on NMI lawmakers
The man’amko “Immortals” are ready to take on government officials in a game of softball at the Palacios Baseball Field in Susupe as part of the ongoing celebration of May as Mes Man’Amko or Older Americans Month.
Sporting crisp new uniforms funded by Wells Fargo Financial, the Man’Amko Immortals are pumped up ready for a big win tomorrow, according to its head coach, Francisco Reyes.
“We will give it all our best and we will triumph, win or lose,” Reyes said.
Howard Macaranas, director of the Office of Aging, presented Wells Fargo Financial an appreciation plaque for “their generous support and assistance to the islands’ elderly.”
Wells Fargo Financial donated a sum of $776 to the Office of Aging to help fund the new baseball uniforms.
Macaranas said the man’amko have been seeking assistance from the community to prep for their big game this year. “Luckily, Wells Fargo came to the rescue. The man’amko cannot thank them enough.”
The Immortals roster includes Natsko Nicholas, Pedro Dela Cruz, James Jordan, Siyau Muna, Rosario Ibanez, Mahensia Mereb, Roberto Dela Cruz, Marianao Satur, Rosalia Sablan, and Christiana Michael.
The team’s back ups include Susana Santos, Sitae Terry, Terry Siroza, Ana Nakatsukasa, Felipe Santiago, Romino Achene, and Monique Mariur.

Over 40 man’amko took over the Legislature on Capital Hill last Friday. According to Office of Aging’s event coordinator Walter Manglona, the event was “successful. They all had a great time learning new things about our government.”
The CNMI is home to over 2,000 citizens age 60 or older. An average of 90 to 100 senior citizens visit the Aging Center on a daily basis.
The Aging Center has lined up an array of activities for the whole month, including the coronation of the 2008 Mes Man’Amko King and Queen on May 30.
