Memorial Day softball meeting tomorrow

Organizers of the Memorial Day Softball Tournament will hold a meeting tomorrow at 6:30pm at the pavilion inside the Susupe Sports Complex beside the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Eliseo “Chel” Castro is organizing the tournament along with Mel Sakisat, Tony Camacho, Mario Sablan, and Derron Flores.

Castro said they would discuss the tournament rules and hand out the forms to be completed by teams who want to participate in the fundraising event.

Castro will also hold a final meeting on Thursday, May 22, also at 6:30pm at the Ada Gym pavilion where he would require teams to submit the waiver forms and the $150 entrance fee.

The softball tournament is a fundraising event that will be held on Memorial Day weekend to help the Saipan teams that will be competing in a Guam baseball tournament in July.

The fundraising tournament will be held from May 23 to 26 at the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Softball Field. The tournament will follow a double elimination round format.

The fundraising is in preparation for the 2nd Annual Saipan-Guam Baseball tournament to be during Guam’s Liberation Day weekend from July 19 to 20.

The CNMI will be fielding in teams in the three divisions, namely: tee ball for 5-8 year olds, Babe Ruth in the 9-10 age group the 11-12 Major League division.
