Dayao is the Valedictorian for Green Meadows
Arvin Dayao topped 28 other students from the K-5 division of the Green Meadow School during its 5th Annual Commencement Exercise last Friday at the Multi-Purpose.
Dayao, 5, was also awarded for being the most attentive, best in reading, leadership award, perfect attendance, Primary Grade Forensic Competition winner, and Math Court winner.
Last year, when Dayao first attended an awards ceremony, he saw the numerous trophies but it was the biggest and tallest trophy that caught his eye. He asked his mother, Mirasol Dayao, who gets to have the big trophy. His mother said, “That’s for the K5 valedictorian.” Dayao wished that he would also get that same trophy when he graduates from K5.
“My wish came true because I always do my best to be the number one kid in the class. I will bring home the tallest and biggest trophy that I wanted since last year,” he said.
Dayao said he will treasure his memories of the activities he participated outside the classroom, including when he went to World Resort for a day of swimming, PGFC, Math Court competitions, and the sports fest.
Dayao dreams to be a doctor in the future.
He would like to extend his gratitude to his mentors, teacher Mileth, teacher Moody and teacher Jehan, support staff, “tita Annie, tita Wilma, tito Dexter, and tito Bernard, our school principal, teacher Marilyn, president tita Mila, family, and most especially God.”
Dustin Ross Salilin, 6, was the salutatorian for the K-5 division. He also earned the most active award, Math Court winner, best in numbers, and citizenship award.
“All of our hard work and struggle throughout the year in kindergarten will at last come to an end. But as we have finally finish our tests, essays, all of us will face new struggles and will have to work even harder,” said Salilin.
“We have been involved in many competitions with other schools. The one that meant most to me was the Math Court,” he added.
He wants to expand his gratitude to his teacher, mom and dad for all the guidance, friendship, encouragement, and discipline.
The guest speaker during the graduation rites was Maribel Loste from the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
Principal Marilyn Divino states, “The students have been willing to challenge themselves and take risks. Such efforts have borne fruit as they have grown in skills and performance. Go kids, be a lifelong learners! Go forth unafraid and with our affection and best wishes!”
