Jackie Ogumoro made her parents and family members proud after reaping the most number of awards during Friday’s Kagman Elementary School sixth grade farewell ceremony.

Ogumoro received this year’s Commissioner’s Award, the highest honor. She also received the top recognition in subject awards in Language Arts, Social Studies, and Carolinian.

Ogumoro said she was very excited to receive the school’s most prestigious award and would like to thank all her teachers who have taught her in previous years for encouraging her to do her very best.

“I also want to thank my fellow classmates for being supportive of each other when we all needed help because either we are not listening to our teacher, or the problem was just so challenging,” Ogumoro said.

Ogumuro, who is the daughter of Joe and Therese Ogumoro, also encouraged all of her classmates to look forward to more achievements in junior high, high school, and college.

“Let’s all look forward to that. Let’s all do our very best. And let’s all make a difference in our lives,” Ogumoro said.

Jaydene Ermitanio received the Principal’s Award, the second highest honor. She dedicated her achievement to her parents for all the mentorship, guidance, and support they have given her throughout her life.

Ermitanio, who received the Best in Math award, was elected by her peers as president of the student council. She said the experience has only given her the opportunity to learn the challenges of responsibility and how to manage time between school and home.

Other members of the top 10 were Mirika Talalemotu, Maricar Navisaga, Nicollete Ngirausui, Dionne Deleon Guerrero, Emmalou Cabrera, Nathan Angui, Jeromalyn Santos, and Amanda Atalig.

Talalemotu received the award for Best in Science, Raymond Nakazato received the award for Best in Fine Arts, Jaime Mangloa received Best in Physical Education, and both Angui and Ngirausui received Best in Chamorro Bilingual.

Christine Route received this year’s Peace Builder award.
