Renowned Italian vintner Ernesto Casetta treated visitors at the Hyatt Regency Saipan Monday night to a tasting of the Casetta family’s wines.

The Casetta family has won a host of awards for the wines produced on its Vezza D’Alba vineyard in Italy’s Roero region and tasters at the event had a chance to sample one of the company’s unique creations, the Moscato D’Asti blend.

A white, sweet wine with a light body and taste, the Moscato D’Asti is fit to accompany a variety of meals, according to its creator, including fish, meat and even deserts.

Moscato D’Asti is the product of vines grown in the Piedmontse region on Italy and unlike other wines it must, the Casetta’s say, be consumed within one year of its production.

Wine-making is an old tradition for the Casetta family, who have lived in the Roero region since 1725.

Local company Pacific Wines and Spirits organized the event.
