An invitation to go hiking on Saipan
Beautify CNMI! Parks & Trails is inviting the public to participate in the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7, by going for a hike on Saipan at 9pm. Please join us for this nationwide event by hiking in appreciation of our islands hiking trails. See: http://www.americanhiking.org/NTD.aspx
The trail we chose is the Laderan Tangke Trail. The parking lot is on the left side on the way up to the old radar station. Take the road just past the old Fiesta Mall on the right, across from PauPau Beach and follow the road up. We will meet at the trailhead at 9am on Saturday morning on June 7. We will begin by having a brief talk concerning the event, followed by trail ethics, and safety.
There are two trail options: one group can take the loop trail that returns to the Laderan Tangke parking lot and trailhead, and the second group, led by Jim Benedetto, can choose to go on the trail to Bird Island Lookout and catch a ride back from there in a vehicle HHH style.
Hikers, please be prepared to have fun and enjoy the trail: Bring proper clothing, good hiking shoes, water, and sun protection.
Estimated hiking time is two hours.
Take only pictures and memories, and leave the trail in as good a condition, or better, as you found it. (PR)
