NMA grateful for Coca-Cola, Foremost Championships donations
The Northern Marianas Athletics expressed its gratitude to Coca-Cola Beverage Co. (Micronesia) Inc. and Foremost Foods Saipan for their generous donation to the just-concluded 2008 Oceania Championships, saying it contributed a lot to the success of the major regional sports event.
“The donation from Coca-Cola really helped,” Robin Sapong Eugenio, NMA secretary general said.
“Without the support of Coca-Cola and Foremost, we probably could not have pulled it off,” Sapong said, adding that the company has consistently been providing donations to NMA events for the past five years.
Johnnie Fong, managing director of Coca-Cola and Foremost on Saipan and Guam, said the companies are supportive of sporting events as these are in harmony with the active and healthy lifestyle that Coke and Foremost promote.
According to Rusty M. Loyola, operations manager for Coke and Foremost, a total of 30 cases of Dasani and Crystal Clear bottled drinking water and 24 cases of Powerade Orange were donated to NMA for the event. He said three Iceman coolers and two Dasani water jugs were also lent to the sports organization.
“The donation was more than enough to make sure that the athletes were able to hydrate themselves especially during the competition,” Eugenio said.
It was the first time that Saipan hosted the Oceania Under 18 and Open Area Championship and the Oceania Grand Prix Series, a major regional sports event that brought together approximately 300 athletes from American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Guam, Kiribati, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu, among others.
The event was held from June 21 to 28.
NMA is the fastest growing and most progressive sporting organization in the Northern Mariana Islands with more than 15 years of experience in organizing and hosting events in the CNMI, according to Sapong. (PR)
