The federal court revoked yesterday the probation of a man who was convicted last year of “ice” trafficking.

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex R. Munson revoked Norbert B. Camacho’s supervised release for one day after he admitted using methamphetamine or “ice.”

Munson placed Camacho on three years of supervised release.

The judge ordered Camacho to enter the Lighthouse Recovery Center in Guam for six months or until deemed rehabilitated by the staff.

Munson said if the defendant leaves the program before the appropriate time, the court will take necessary action to revoke his supervised release.

Camacho was given two weeks to report to LRC. He is prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages until he is admitted to LRC.

Camacho was one of two men facing separate illegal drugs trafficking cases in federal court.

Camacho was released from prison on Nov. 20, 2007. He completed his home confinement on April 24, 2008.

U.S. Probation Officer Melinda N. Brunson recommended the revocation of defendant’s supervised release after he tested positive for “ice” use on four occasions since his release from jail.

In yesterday’s revocation hearing, Camacho admitted to the violation.

Munson stated Camacho would either go to prison for six months or he could attend the LRC for six months.

The defendant stated he prefer to go into a recovery program. Assistant U.S. attorney Eric O’Malley did not object.
