What a shame!

After reading the article “Boom or Bane: Mariana Trench National Monument” in the latest Island Locator magazine, I am convinced more than ever that the CNMI has a golden opportunity of starting a new “spark” of increased tourism trade and free international publicity for our withering island economy.

In my opinion: What a shame…that our children and their children may not have the opportunity to benefit from this area being designated a marine monument because of Wespac and the financial interests, ego, and greed of a few “Good Old Boys” who are opposed to this project. What a selfish shame their opposition brings to the future generations of the CNMI!

My vote is “yes” for giving the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument a chance; and I will vote “no!” to those who oppose it, come election time.

This proposal will bring health to our oceans and give educational, environmental, and economic opportunities to our children in the future.
