In preparation for the 2008 Tropical Storm and Typhoon season, IConnect is providing safety tips for its customers and employees on Rota, Tinian and Saipan.

Just in the last two months, three separate large tropical storms have passed over the CNMI turning into full-blown Typhoons hitting the Philippines, Taiwan, and China with winds above 100 mph.

“They say the Big One comes every five years!” said Hans Mickelson, IConnect general manager. “It’s not if, it’s when, that’s why you always have to prepare like each call to action is for real.”

Forecasters are predicting that the Marianas may have a few to many named tropical storms forming in the area between June, December, and January turning into full-blown typhoons.

“One thing that we have learned in preparing for typhoon season is to develop a plan well in advance,” said Matt Giger, vice president for IConnect. “We are currently ramping up our typhoon response plans to ensure the company will be able to address emergencies in the most effective manner possible.” (iConnect)
