The absence of Chelsea Ruluked will mean that CNMI Junior Women’s Nationals starting point guard Li’Amwar Rangamar will have to move to the shooting guard spot for the 2008 FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament in Guam.

Women’s national coach Elias Rangamar said that Ruluked’s decision to move to the mainland has left a big gaping hole in the team’s offense and one solution he sees is moving his daughter to the two spot.

Rangamar said while Lia, as she is fondly called, is one of the junior women nationals’ best ball-handler, the 5’3” guard is also one of the team’s more accurate shooters.

Aside from Rangamar, others named to the team are 5’6” guard/forward Yvonne Bennett, 5’4” forward Jenequa Benavente, 5’8” center Dion Diaz, 5’6” forward Noelle Calvo, 5’2” guard Mercedes Mesa, 5’2” guard Nicole Lebria, 5’6” forward Blesee Sablan, 5’6” forward Tanisha Masga, and 5’7” center/forward Jacquelin Wonenberg.

Aside from the 10 players, Rangamar also chose five alternates for the team who can replace the regulars in case of injury or any other reason. They are Bennett’s twin sister Yvette, Kaylani Lebria, Glorily Williams, Nikita Hofschneider, and Dayline Joseph.

Assisting Elias Rangamar, who is also Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands president, is Jose Tumaquip. Connie Camacho will also be joining the men’s and women’s team to Guam as a referee.

The 2008 FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament is set from Sept. 28 to Oct. 4 at the UOG Fieldhouse.
