Summer is drawing close to an end, so that means new supplies and new clothes for the upcoming school year.

Stores have everything—from fancy school bags to colorful pens and notebooks, but there is still one thing to keep in mind: Buy only those that are necessary for school.

Before you head to the store, being prepared with a school supplies list of pens, pencils, folders, filler papers, binders, and composition notebooks, etc., would benefit you as you will not forget what items must be prioritized.

“Usually I buy a new binder, notebooks, and pens. My school bag is still in good condition so I wouldn’t want to buy a new one,” says Madalyn Guevarra, an upcoming senior at Marianas High School.

Although one can buy supplies without a list, it might be best to wait until your teacher gives you one or tells you what to buy during your first class.

You can also use lists from previous school years for the upcoming year if your course schedule is about the same.

Kevin Razon, an upcoming junior at Marianas High School, is being conservative as he will use some supplies he hasn’t used in the previous school year.

“I have a few leftover supplies, so I can use those for the upcoming school year, and if I need anything else, well then I will go out and buy more supplies. I wouldn’t want to waste my money and the supplies I had from the previous year,” said Razon.

Once you have narrowed down your supplies list, it’s time to buy your items.

Early school supplies shopping will help you avoid waiting in long lines and finding needed items may go out of stock.
