Families enjoy 1st Children’s Fun Day
Over 100 children and parents attended the first-ever Children’s Fun Day held at Kilili Beach the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 10.
The non-profit event offered an array of refreshments, face painting, puppet shows, and an especially entertaining clown.
Volunteers from different organizations, including the Department of Public Safety, led the children in joining different games such as musical chairs and “Fun with Newspapers.”
Game winners received prizes like school supplies and toys from event sponsor Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Event coordinators Irene Tantiado and Patrick Maanao had only nine days to prepare for the event.
“It turned out well. Look at how many people showed up. The kids are enjoying themselves, we had many food given by so many donors and sponsors,” said Maanao.
Maribeth Lumasag, a mother of two, said, “I find the event very well-organized and really fun.”
Her 13-year-old daughter Carol Mae said she enjoyed Children’s Fun Day and promised to attend next year’s event.
Five-year-old Nikie Maanao said she thinks the event’s plentiful balloons particularly entertaining.
The event’s sponsors were Price Costco, Triple J, Five Star, Rotary Club of Saipan, Juan T. Lizama, Wendy & Nani Doroman, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Horizon Inc., Coca Cola, Patrick Calvo and the Department of Public Safety.
