Current hazy weather conditions are not related to the Anatahan volcano, the CNMI Emergency Management Office said yesterday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the plume of smoke from Anatahan is heading away from Saipan, Tinian and Rota.

EMO’s SO2 analyzer indicated that the air contained 99ppb (parts per billion) as of 10:30am yesterday.

Mariners should take precautionary measures due to low visibility in open water. More information can be found at www.cnmiemo.gov.mp.
