A man arrested for assault and battery, and criminal mischief this week was found to have an outstanding warrant from 1993.

Ramon A. Bermudes, 50, was arrested after allegedly striking his sister-in-law and his sister-in-law’s husband.

After his arrest, it was discovered he had a bench warrant out for a 1993 traffic case.

Bermudes was released on $1,500 bail for the assault and battery, and criminal mischief arrests and fined $50 for the bench warrant. He was also ordered to surrender all travel documents and to not leave Saipan.

On Aug. 9, the Department of Public Safety received a call from “Sam” reporting a domestic violence disturbance in Chalan Kanoa.

The suspect allegedly punched the victims and turned over a picnic table after the couple, along with the suspect’s wife, returned home from a party, according to the report.

“The suspect came to [them] as he yelled bad words to them in Chamorro language,” the report stated.

The suspect turned himself in on Aug. 11.
