A man and a woman pleaded guilty Thursday in the Commonwealth Superior Court to knowingly and unlawfully hiring and employing an illegal alien.

Under the plea agreement, Arnel and Emilia Panieza each agreed to pay $250; pay all court costs; voluntarily leave the Commonwealth within 21 days of the plea; and follow all CNMI laws until deportation.

If the conditions are not met, the defendants will face two years of imprisonment.

According to the agreement, Arnel and Emilia knowingly and unlawfully hired Dolores Agana, an illegal alien, in an effort to extend Agana’s stay in CNMI and circumvent labor and immigration laws.
