Entry deadline for PILCOWA inaugural caging set for Sept. 23
Teams wanting to join the first basketball tournament organized by the Pilipino Contract Workers Association will have until Sept. 23 to register.
PILCOWA sports coordinator Pando Muleta said another team has confirmed to participate, bringing the total of interested squads to six as of yesterday afternoon.
The opening ceremonies will be on Sept. 28 at the CIC Building basketball court.
“We’re still inviting teams because we need at least eight teams to complete the roster,” Muleta said.
There will be a meeting tomorrow Sept. 17 to finalize the preparations for the league. For the details, contact Muleta at 285-9783.
All six teams that had already confirmed their participation are required to submit their final rosters and pay the registration fee at the meeting.
Each team are allowed to have a maximum of 14 players and must pay the $500 entry fee.
In a meeting last week, organizers and participating teams initially discussed details about awards, uniforms, and league rules
Muleta said the champion team will win a trophy and its members will receive medals.
The first and second runnersup will also get trophies.
There will be awards for the MVP, Mythical Five, best in rebounds, assists, steals, and three-point field goal. A three-point shootout during the playoffs will also be held.
Aside from the regular season MVP, organizers will also recognize the Finals MVP.
The group is also planning to hold an All-Star game before the start of the playoffs.
