A man’s gambling habit reportedly led to a domestic fight at an apartment in Chalan Kanoa Thursday night.

Shou Ji Zheng, 39, was arrested for assault and battery. He was taken to the Superior Court yesterday for a bail hearing. A $1,000 cash bail was imposed for his temporary liberty.

The victim suffered a swollen right eye.

Detective Simon T. Manacop stated in his report that a police officer responded to a report of a domestic fight at the Marianas Noni Apartments in Chalan Kanoa Thursday at 10:50pm.

Manacop said the victim told police that prior to the beating, Zheng came home after playing poker.

The couple had been arguing about Zheng’s poker habit. During the argument, the defendant got mad and allegedly punched his wife twice in the eye.

The wife ran outside their apartment and went to their neighbor where she called for police’s help.

Medics treated the victim. She refused to be taken to the hospital.

When police arrived at the apartment, Zheng was asleep. He was then arrested.
