A security agency has sued the defunct garment manufacturer Jin Apparel Inc. for allegedly refusing to pay over $14,000 for security services.

Sapphire Enterprises Inc., owner of Sapphire Security Agency, asked the Superior Court to order Jin Apparel to pay the principal amount plus accrued interest, court costs, and attorney’s fees.

Michael White, lawyer for Sapphire Enterprises, said that Jin Apparel is indebted to plaintiff for security services provided to the factory.

“Notwithstanding demand, defendant has failed, refused and neglected, and still fails, refuses and neglects to pay the said amount or any part thereof to plaintiff,” White said.

In October 2007, Jin Apparel filed a notice to the Department of Labor about its plan to suspend business operations from Dec. 31, 2007 until March 31, 2008.
