2 hurt in car smashup in front of church
Two persons were injured during a vehicular accident in front of the San Vicente Church last Nov. 10, according to the Department of Public Safety, which released the report only yesterday.
DPS acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said that Marjorie Arugay suffered laceration to the head that required four stitches and abrasion to the elbow and front right knee.
Tarkong said Robert Camacho complained of pain in the hip and back.
Tarkong said a traffic investigator found Camacho at fault for failure to maintain his right half of the highway.
He said that on Nov. 10 at 6:51am police received a call about an auto accident in front of the San Vicente Church.
When a police officer arrived at the scene, a red 1993 Toyota Corolla, which had major damage to the front portion, was seen resting on the southbound lane.
About 20 feet away was a white 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup resting on its passenger side.
The officer saw the car’s driver, Arugay, being assisted by Camacho, who was the driver of the truck. Camacho was trying to control the bleeding on Arugay’s head by applying pressure with a T-shirt.
An ambulance transported both Arugay and Camacho to the Commonwealth Health Center for further treatment.
Tarkong said the road was wet and slippery due to rainy weather.
