The Okies went 2-for-2 at the continuation of the second round of the 2008-2009 World Organized Rocball Community League Saturday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

The Okies scored a big victory in their first game last weekend, stunning the then undefeated Ghasias Brothers in four sets, 55-45.

Ghasias Brothers won their first three games in the second round, but a shutout in the fourth set of their game against Okies handed the former their first loss in the tournament. The Okies remained unbeaten in the second round with their 4-0 record.

The Okies drew first blood winning the opening set, 15-13, but Ghasias Brothers swept the next two, 15-12, 17-12 to boost their bid for a perfect record.

Ghasias Brothers were still leading in the fourth set, 6-0, when they started committing errors allowing Okies to recover and turn the tables en route to an impressive 16-0 triumph.

The Okies had a hard time in their second game, ripping the Islanders after two overtimes, 95-94.

Regulation ended at 78-76 in favor of Okies, but the Islanders won the fourth set, 15-12. In Rocball, a leading team can only win the game if it also prevails in the fourth set. If not, the game goes to overtime with the leading team needing to win only once to preserve the victory. The trailing squad must prevail in two overtimes to steal the triumph.

In the first set o-kon, the Islanders nailed an 11-6 win to force another overtime. Finally, Okies pulled of a victory with an 11-7 win in the second overtime.

Typhoon Saito of the Okies was the game’s heavy hitter with his 31 points. He had five aces, two xunks, seven kees, and one goal.

In other results, the Soul Rebels avoided elimination after notching their first win in four games following a 57-54 juiced-out triumph over the Naturals.

In the second round, a team to absorb four losses will be ousted. Teams left standing can recruit players from the eliminated teams. The four remaining squads will advance to the semifinals.

Ben Lisua led the Soul Rebels with 27 points on three aces, two xunks, seven kees, and one goal.

In the final game of the night, the Fanians returned to winning form after topping Evenflow, 55-45. John Nekaifes scord 14 points for the Fanians, who had its two-game winning streak snapped by Ghasias Brothers, two weeks ago.
