Commission on CEDS Saipan public hearing set tonight
After holding public hearings on Tinian and Rota the past two days, the Commission on Commonwealth Economic Development Strategy Commission will have its Saipan public hearing tonight at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.
CEDS Commission co-chair Lynn Knight said everyone is invited to attend the meeting as the group will welcome comments and feedback about the five-year development plan they crafted to help jumpstart the islands’ economy.
The presentation starts on the dot at 6:30pm.
She said the public hearings on Tinian and Rota were very fruitful and she expects the Saipan public hearing to follow the trend.
Aside from Knight, who chairs the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands and publisher of the Saipan Tribune, also expected to be present during the public hearing are Commerce Secretary Michael Ada and CEDS project consultants Art Smith and Sergio Loya of Management Analysis Inc.
Ada serves as co-chair of the CEDS Commission.
Gov. Benigno R. Fitial last year created the CEDS Commission and it was tasked to map out a long-term economic plan for the Commonwealth as outlined by the Economic Development Administration Reform Act, Public Law 105-393, as well as to serve as one of several guides for economic development in the CNMI.
