Art of War 3 set for March 14
Trench Tech Inc. president and promoter Cuki Alvarez announced yesterday that the Art of War 3 All-Island Grappling Submission Challenge would be held on March 14 at the Trench Tech Gym in Afetnas.
Interested fighters may sign up for the No Gi Unarmed Combat tournament with an entry fee of $20. Call Cuki Alvarez or Randy Taylor for more details at 483-4MMA or 483-8670.
Fee for spectators will be $5.
All weight categories will be represented with over 100 grapplers from around the CNMI as well as competitors from the Philippines.
Alvarez said brown belt and black belt super fights would be featured in this event.
Meanwhile, Alvarez expressed appreciation to those who helped the success of last Saturday’s Rites of Passage VI: Conviction at the Royal Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort.
“We continue to hold these events to promote goodwill and sportsmanship. We fight to make friends,” he said.
Some of the proceeds of the event went to the make a Make-A-Wish Foundation, which he said is a way of giving back to the community.
“We specially thank the fight fans because without you MMA is nothing,” he said.
Alvarez said it was a great show.
“This is one of the best tournaments we have. We have a full house crowd. The fights were awesome and we will have more events like this to come,” he said.
Fighters from Guam went home with a 6-0 record against their opponents from Saipan.
Trench Tech paid the trip for Team Guam, said Alvarez.
