Marianas Walking Association, formerly Saipan Walking Association Inc., will hold its 8th Annual Valentine’s Day Walk on Feb. 14.

MWA said there would be no entry fee for all interested participants.

Registration will start at 6am at the Carolinian Utt, across the Bank of Guam building in Garapan.

Drinks and fruits would be provided as well as special Valentine cookie treats from Herman’s Modern Bakery.

T-shirts would also be available albeit for sale.

SAIWA changed its name to MWA in Sept. 15, 2008.

The launching of a new name also came with the forging with a new partnership with the Japan Walking Association.

MWA said that this collaboration effort between the MWA and JWA is part of the goal to expand and promote walking to the Japanese tourism market.

MWA said that these promotional efforts would also extend to the neighboring islands of Tinian, Rota and Guam.

“As we have done in the past, with the start of 2009, MWA will continue to hold community-oriented projects,” said MWA secretary Mario Espeleta.

He said the association is also focused in coming up eco-friendly and “go green” activities and “walkabout to enjoy and experience the splendor of nature paths available in the CNMI.”

The Valentine’s Walk would be the group’s first activity of the year. MWA is inviting the public to join them in a healthy lifestyle activity.
